Design BIW (body-in-white) parts per customer requirements, and to coordinate the design and development of body shell and bumper/exterior automotive components with Engineers and Senior Engineers
Will coordinate with suppliers to plan automotive development and to ensure performance requirements are met
Apply engineering principles, specifications, and company standards to product review
Develop system and component level specifications. Perform advance product quality planning (APQP)
Responsible for quality plan and problem solving to meet fit and finish requirements and investigate and make countermeasures for field issues
Meet regulatory compliance requirements. Interpret CAE (computer-aided engineering) analyses for simulations and apply design improvements
Coordinate with Material and Production Engineers regarding material and manufacturing new product feasibility
Research, establish, and achieve targets for performance, quality, cost, investment, and weight
Investigate cost and mass reduction ideas and implement engineering changes
Qualification:
Must have a Master’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related field, plus three (3) years of automotive engineering experience. Two (2) years of the three (3) years of automotive engineering experience must include experience with the following: (1) 2D and 3DCAD modeling; (2) CATIA software OR AutoCAD software; (3) Create Manufacturing drawing in CATIA V5; (4) Design & development of Car BIW/Sheet metal parts. AND (5) Identifying and resolving complex vehicle-level design issues
In the alternative, we will accept a Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive post-bachelor’s degree automotive engineering experience. Two (2) years of the five (5) years of progressive automotive engineering experience must include experience with the following: (1) 2D and 3DCAD modeling; (2) CATIA software OR AutoCAD software; (3) Create Manufacturing drawing in CATIA V5; (4) Design & development of Car BIW/Sheet metal parts. AND (5) Identifying and resolving complex vehicle-level design issues
All experience may be acquired concurrently. Travel and/or relocation may be required. Incidental telecommuting may apply.
