The Project Requirement

The client sought a complete upper body solution for a passenger vehicle on an EV modular platform. Beyond component design, the program required aligning styling vision with manufacturing feasibility, regulatory standards and parts commonisation across variants.

Key scope elements included upper-body design for the modular EV platform, robust parts commonisation, a unibody structure tailored for high-volume production, and full compliance with market regulations. BIW stamping for scale Stamping designs prioritised production efficiency, optimised panel geometry, balanced structural needs with minimal complexity, enabling seamless high-volume lines through close manufacturing collaboration.

Optimised joining technologies Spot welding, laser welding, and adhesives were strategically selected to meet stiffness and durability goals while supporting rapid throughput.

Precise BOM and supplier integration A detailed BOM for 3D concept design captured materials and weights accurately; concurrent supplier coordination secured viable tooling and components for commercial success.

Comprehensive virtual validation Pre-prototype CAE covered crash, durability, and stiffness cases, paired with manufacturing feasibility and assembly reviews to eliminate late changes and prototype risks.
